Why it exists
A pour-over at camp or on the kitchen counter depends on a filter that actually fits the dripper and then gets out of the way of the brew. Filters cut for the wrong cone slump, channel, or stick above the rim, and bleached paper is something some brewers prefer to avoid. These unbleached natural wood-pulp papers are cut as a V-shape, 60-degree cone for cone drippers, in 01 size for 1 to 2 cups and 02 size for 2 to 4 cups, and in packs of 40 or 100, so you pack exactly the size and count you will use.
How it works
Pick the size that matches your dripper: 01 for a cone that brews 1 to 2 cups, 02 for a cone that brews 2 to 4 cups. Fold the seam of the filter, open it into a cone, and seat it in your 60-degree dripper. Many brewers rinse the paper with hot water first to warm the dripper and settle the filter against the wall; with unbleached paper this also carries off any papery taste. Add ground coffee, pour your bloom, then continue pouring in stages until you reach your brew volume. When the drawdown finishes, lift the filter with the grounds inside and discard it; the paper is disposable and there is nothing to scrub.
At camp the 40-piece pack is the one to carry: it covers a long trip without taking the space of a full box. At home or in a cabin, the 100-piece pack keeps a stack in the drawer or standing in a filter holder beside the kettle.
Built for the trail
- Unbleached natural wood-pulp paper, for brewers who prefer unbleached paper in the cup.
- V-shape, 60-degree cone cut to seat flush in cone drippers, so water flows through the coffee bed instead of around it.
- 01 size for 1 to 2 cups, the right match for a solo trail brew.
- 02 size for 2 to 4 cups, for brewing for a tent partner or a table at the cabin.
- Packs of 40 for travel or 100 for the home drawer, so you are not hauling a box you will not finish.
- Disposable after the brew: lift, toss with the grounds, and the dripper is nearly clean.
- High-concerned chemical: none (maker's declaration).
Best for
Pour-over brewers who use a 60-degree cone dripper at camp, in a van, in a cabin, or at home and want to stock the exact size and count they use. Solo backpackers and day hikers should take 01 size, 40 pcs. Couples and small groups car camping should carry 02 size, 40 pcs. Home brewers who go through a filter every morning should buy the 100-piece pack in their size. If your dripper takes flat-bottom basket filters, flat round discs, or a cone that is not a 60-degree V, these will not fit; check your dripper's filter shape before ordering.
Honest limits
These are single-use paper filters: each brew uses one, and they cannot be rinsed and reused like a metal or cloth filter. They are made for 60-degree cone drippers only; a basket or flat-bottom brewer needs a different shape. Unbleached paper can carry a slight paper note if it is not rinsed, so a quick hot-water rinse before brewing is worth the extra pour. Keep the pack dry; damp paper filters stick together and tear.
