Why it exists

Set your kettle, pot, or skillet on the mesh and use the attached handle to lift, turn toast, or shift the percolator across the coals.

It suits any brew method that wants steady heat: a percolator pulsing over the coals, a kettle for pour-over or French press, or a hanging pour-over that needs a level mesh under the cup. It also works as a wider cooking plane on a small stove stand. Afterward, cool it completely, brush off the ash, rinse, dry, and fold it to a 1.5 cm (0.6 in) packed height that slides beside a mug and a dripper in a side pocket.

Honest limits

This is a mesh over coals, not a stove. It relies on your fire ring or stones for support, so you still need a level base and a fire burned down enough to cook over. Both sizes are small cooking planes for one kettle or one skillet at a time, not a group meal. Stainless over an open fire will discolor and pick up soot; cool it fully, brush the ash, rinse, and dry before packing, or it will carry grit into the rest of your brew kit.
