Rustic Wooden Storage Box with Metal Latch

Why it exists

Coffee gear scatters. At camp it is the bag of beans rolling around a bin, the paper filters getting creased under a pot, the scoop that is never where you left it. At home it is the same mess spread across a counter. This rectangular wooden box with a hinged lid and a metal latch gathers those small pieces into one place that closes, so the kit rides in the car between trips and sits on a shelf between brews, ready for the next cup.

How it works

Load it like a small brew kit: a bag of beans, a sleeve of paper filters, a scoop, and the small tools you actually use. Close the hinged lid and flip the metal latch, and the box becomes a single thing to grab on the way to the car or the campsite table. At camp, open it on the table and your coffee station is laid out; when you are done, everything goes back in and the latch keeps it closed in the car or the camp bin. At home or in a cabin it works the same way on a counter or shelf, keeping filters flat and the scoop with the beans. At about 20 × 10 × 6 cm (7.9 × 3.9 × 2.4 in, maker's figure), it is sized for sundries and small tools, not for a kettle or a full-size grinder.

Built for the trail

• Rectangular wooden box about 20 × 10 × 6 cm (7.9 × 3.9 × 2.4 in, maker's figure), sized to hold a small bag of beans, paper filters, a scoop, and small brew tools.
• Hinged lid stays attached, so there is no separate top to lose in the dirt or the back of the van.
• Metal latch holds the lid closed in a moving car or a crowded camp bin.
• Reusable wood construction, replacing zip bags and loose bins for the sundries you keep in rotation trip after trip.
• Rides in the car between trips and sits on a shelf at home, so one box serves both.
• Two finishes, Light Wood and Natural Wood, to match a camp kitchen or a cabin counter.
• Arrives empty, ready to be filled as a brew kit or wrapped as a gift box.

Best for

Car campers and van travelers who want filters, a scoop, and a small bag of beans in one latched box instead of loose in a bin; home and cabin coffee drinkers who want a tidy counter; and anyone putting together a gift of a small brew kit. Pick Light Wood for a brighter counter or Natural Wood for a deeper rustic look. It is not the right pick if you need weather-sealed storage for a boat or an open truck bed, or if you want to store a kettle, a hand grinder, or a large bag of beans; those need a bigger, sealed container.

Honest limits

This is a wooden box, not a dry box: it is not sealed against rain or standing water, and it should be kept out of both. The latch keeps the lid closed; it does not make the box airtight, so keep beans in their own bag inside. Wipe it with a dry or lightly damp cloth rather than washing it. The dimensions are the maker's figure, about 20 × 10 × 6 cm, so measure your scoop and filter pack if you are planning a tight fit.
