Why it exists
A paper filter needs a cone that sits over a mug, and most of the things that do that job are rigid plastic or ceramic that claim a fist of pack space and do not love being dropped. This drip rack is a 304 stainless steel wire frame that unfolds into that cone holder at camp or on the kitchen counter, then folds flat so it rides in the pack like a spare spoon instead of a dripper. The paper does the filtering; the frame just holds its shape over the cup.
How it works
Unfold the frame and set it over your mug or cup. Open a paper cone filter and seat it in the frame; the wire holds the paper in its cone so it does not slump into the coffee. Add your grounds, pour a little hot water to wet them, pause, then pour the rest in stages the way you would with any pour-over. Water passes through the paper and the open wire straight into the mug below. When the dripping stops, lift the frame off, drop the spent filter in your trash bag, and drink.
Cleanup is the short version of pour-over cleanup: hand wash the frame, dry it, and fold it flat. Because there is no body to the dripper, there is nothing to hold stale grounds or oils, so the rack is ready for the next brew as soon as it is dry. The same frame works on the kitchen counter when you want a paper-filter cup without a dedicated dripper.
Built for the trail
-
304 stainless steel wire frame. Rinses clean and does not chip or crack in a pack the way a rigid dripper can.
-
Unfolds into a cone holder for a paper filter. The frame gives the paper its shape so the pour behaves.
-
Sits over a mug while you pour. Brews straight into the cup you drink from.
-
Folds flat for packing. Slides into a cook kit or a side pocket instead of taking a dripper's space.
-
Open wire, no body. Nothing to trap grounds or oils; hand wash and dry and it is done.
-
Non-electric, with no high-concerned chemicals listed. A plain steel frame.
Best for
Backpackers, bike campers, and solo overnighters who want paper-filter pour-over without a rigid plastic or ceramic dripper in the pack; it also makes sense in a travel bag or a desk drawer. Pair it with the paper cone filters you already use and a camp mug. If you want to skip paper entirely, our collapsible stainless mesh filter is the better pick, and if you brew for a group into a carafe rather than one mug at a time, this single-cup frame is not the tool.
Honest limits
It is a holder, not a filter: you still carry paper cone filters, keep them dry, and pack out the spent ones. The maker does not list a specific filter size or a weight, so we do not state them; it is built for a paper cone that sits over a camp mug or cup. A folding wire frame is light by nature, so fold and unfold it with some care rather than cramming it into a packed pot. Hand wash only, and dry it before folding so it goes into the pack clean.
