Why it exists
A rigid mug takes more space in a pack than the drink itself. This telescoping stainless steel cup collapses into its own lid so it rides in a jacket pocket, a hip-belt pocket, or the top of a pack, then pulls out when you want coffee, tea, or water. It is for the moments a mug is overkill: a pour from a shared percolator at a trailhead, a shot from a moka pot in the van, or a cup of tea at the kitchen counter when every proper mug is in the sink.
How it works
Pop the lid, pull the stainless rings upward until the cup stands open. Pour in coffee or tea; the cup is rated to hold boiling water, so a fresh pour straight from a kettle or percolator is fine. Drink, rinse, and dry it. Then press the rings back down into one another and seat the lid on top. The lid carries a key ring, so the collapsed cup clips to a pack strap, a belt loop, or your keys and does not get lost in a gear bin.
Three sizes cover different jobs. The 75 ml (2.5 fl oz) cup is a shot or a sip: espresso from a portable press, a taste of a new roast, or a measured pour of water. The 150 ml (5 fl oz) cup is a small coffee, a cortado-sized pour, or tea. The 250 ml (8.5 fl oz) cup is a regular cup of coffee or a full pour from a percolator.
Built for the trail
- Stainless steel body that telescopes open to drink and folds shut into the lid, so it packs in a fraction of its open height.
- Lid carries a key ring so the cup clips to a pack, belt loop, or keys and stays with you.
- Food-contact stainless steel, including the handle; reusable, not disposable.
- Rated to hold boiling water, so it takes coffee or tea straight from the kettle.
- Three sizes: 75 ml (2.5 fl oz), 150 ml (5 fl oz), and 250 ml (8.5 fl oz), so you pick the pour you actually drink.
- No high-concern chemicals listed by the maker.
Best for
Backpackers and day hikers who want a cup that disappears into a pocket. Van and car campers who keep one clipped to the kitchen box for an extra guest. Travelers and commuters who want a reusable cup for hotel coffee or office tea without carrying a full mug. Choose 250 ml if this will be your main coffee cup, 150 ml for a small pour or tea, and 75 ml for espresso shots and tastings. If you want a mug that keeps coffee hot for an hour, this is not insulated; pick a double-wall mug instead.
Honest limits
Stainless steel with boiling water inside gets hot to hold, so let a full pour settle before you grip the body. The telescoping rings have seams, and water sits in them if you collapse the cup wet; rinse and dry before closing it. It is not insulated. The lid is a storage cap and a clip point; it is not described as a leakproof travel-mug seal, so collapse it empty rather than carrying a drink inside. The 75 ml size is a shot, not a cup.
